It's Raining, It's Pouring...

...and the DCGF is snoring. Well, not really. Not yet anyway. But here in D.C. we've had nothing but rain for several days, now, and it's enough to induce a nap at almost any moment.

You see, I was supposed to be blogging to you live from the DC Green Day on Freedom Plaza in downtown D.C. But due to this inclement weather, I'm taking the day off. It's kinda like being a construction worker, only my boots don't have steel toes.

Anyway, they've reschedule the festivities for Wednesday, so if you're in the city between 10am and 2pm, stop by and see me at booth #4 for a chance to win a
Goodwill of Greater Washington mug (see ya, paper coffee cups), reusable tote bag (sayonara plastic shopping sacks), or pen (everybody needs a pen, right?). And if you're lucky, the DCGF might even interview for some live-blogging! Show up wearing your best Goodwill outfit; I'll be taking pics for the blog and talking eco and recycled fashion with anybody that stops by the booth.

In the meantime, check out the New York Times Sunday Magazine edition to learn how a broad spectrum of retailers are going green, and how you can get involved. If you want to consume responsibly, check out the clearance section online of Kaight NYC, an eco boutique. You'll still pay more than "regular" retail, but with items like the cinch-waist dress from Burning Torch, at left, in modal, you can feel better about doing so.

And finally, if you're in the D.C. area, today's the day that Wild Women Wear Red shutters its doors. Stop by for amazing deals on fabulous shoes, bags, shirts, and accessories. I'll be there scooping up the 42s!
